Thank you for considering Maplelatte Animal Shelter Society (MASS CARE) for the surrender of your livestock.
This form is designed to help us collect important information about each animal before we determine whether we are able to accept the surrender. Livestock requires specialized space, fencing, feed, veterinary care, transportation, and ongoing maintenance, so all livestock surrender requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
Please provide accurate and complete information about each animal, including ownership, health, behaviour, veterinary history, identification, and special care requirements. Providing complete information helps us prepare for the animal's arrival and ensure the safety of our staff, volunteers, and other animals.
Livestock Surrender Fee
A surrender fee applies to each individual livestock animal accepted by MASS CARE. The fee helps cover the initial costs associated with intake, transportation, veterinary assessment, feed, housing, fencing, hoof care, and other care expenses.
Current suggested surrender fees:
🐐 Goat: $150 per animal
🫏 Donkey: $300 per animal
🐑 Sheep: $150 per animal
🐖 Pig: $200 per animal
🐴 Horse: $500 per animal
🐄 Cattle: $400 per animal
Other livestock: Fee will be determined based on the animal and its care requirements.
Please note: The surrender fee does not guarantee acceptance. MASS CARE may decline a surrender if we do not have appropriate space, fencing, resources, equipment, veterinary support, or the ability to safely care for the animal.
The surrender fee may also be adjusted or waived at the discretion of MASS CARE in cases of financial hardship or other special circumstances.
By submitting this form, you are requesting a livestock surrender, not automatically transferring the animal to MASS CARE. The surrender and transfer of ownership are only completed once MASS CARE has reviewed and formally accepted the animal(s).
